July Designer of the Month – Oscar de la Renta

Over the years Oscar de la Renta has become a designer most households can name.
This month Guestlist has decided to pay tribute to the designer and his amazing designs. We’ve all seen his creations down the catwalk, and his gowns down the red carpet worn by the most important names in Hollywood. When a star wears an Oscar de la Renta gown we know that they will look flawless without a doubt.
Mr De la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic and lived there with his six sisters until he decided to move to Madrid at the young age of 18. He moved to Madrid to pursue and study art, however, it was in Madrid where he fell in love with the fashion industry and his long career began.
He started his own fashion label at the age of 33 and two years later he married his first wife, a former editor of French Vogue, Francoise de Langlade. She helped him with inviting the most powerful fashion names to his shows. Oscar de la Renta is now known for his sophisticated and at the same time modern, evening wear.
He’s gained many celebrity fans like Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker, who often choose to wear his dresses over others’ designs.
