The BET Award Winners and Who Wore What

RnB/Hip Hop | Thursday 4th July 2013 | Meganne

Established in 2001 and held annually since, the BET (black entertainment television) awards took place in Los Angeles over the weekend. Awards are given for outstanding achievements in areas such as music, sport and acting.

‘Swimming pools’ and ‘Don’t kill my vibe’ singer Kendrick Lamar took home the best new artist, Jamie Foxx best actor and controversially, Rihanna beat Beyoncé to the top in the best female R&B artist award. Some extremely unique dresses were seen up and down the red carpet; Nicki Minaj sported a floor length, black, velvet gown by Robert Cavalli and also managed to take home the best female hip-hop artist award. Michelle Williams stuck to a popular trend from this year, peplum, in a white, floor length, peplum style dress. The small slit centred at bottom of the dress added something quirky to this classy design. Ciara was a bit more daring and her outfit choice fits perfectly with the current heat wave in California. Her choice was simple but brave and right on trend. She chose a knee length black leather pencil skirt paired with a crop top, both by Saint Laurent and Silver Shoes.
