Amnesty are marching for the refugees on September 17th

Other | Friday 9th September 2016 | Arren

Amnesty are marching for the refugees, and they want you to join them.

Following the horrific image of Alan Kurdi's body on the Turkish beach 100,000 people marched through London, calling on the government to welcome more refugees. The march had some success as David Cameron agreed to resettle 20,000 Syrian refugees over the next five years here in the UK.

However a year on, 20,000 is not enough. The number of fleeing people keeps rising as the Syrian conflict rages on. Still many of these desperate people die trying to escape their war torn home. Still European politicians haven't provided safe, legal routes for these people.

Amnesty International are going on the march again on September 17th, calling on Theresa May to lead the way and welcome more refugees with safe routes into our country. All those wishing to join should meet at Green Park station at 11.30am, full details are on the Amnesty website.
