Snatch - Dir. Guy Ritchie (1998)

‘You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity’

Two plots capable of movies in their own right entwine, as Turkish (Jason Statham) and Tommy (Stephen Graham) try to throw an unlicensed boxing match using Irish Traveller Mickey (Brad Pitt), whilst bungling robbers Vinny (Robbie Gee) and Sol (Lennie James) search London for an 86 carat diamond.

Snatch is a classic British crime caper and is director Guy Ritchie's second feature film after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Similar in style to Lock, Stock, Snatch focuses on London’s underworld in a comical and light hearted manner.

Brad Pitt plays the role of Mickey the Gypsy in a performance akin to Fight Club or SE7EN, a role that he was given after Guy Ritchie realised that he couldn’t master a cockney accent.

Snatch has been extremely well received by critics, scoring an outstanding 8.3/10 on IMDB.
