82,000 homes, including specialist homes for the most vulnerable people in society, are threatened with closure.
In April, the Conservative Government plans to cap housing benefits for social rented properties, leaving vulnerable older residents, domestic violence victims and people suffering from mental illnesses with no other option.
Housing charities have attacked the Government for what would unjustly target these people in need. The cuts to spending would lead to closing of properties on “a massive and unprecedented scale”, and ministers must safeguard supporting housing schemes from cuts.
