Corbyn for nuclear disarmament: Stop Trident National Demo 27 February 2016

Monday 1st February 2016 | Omari

On the 27 of February 2016 Jeremy Corbyn will speak at the largest anti-nuclear demonstration for a generation.

Trafalgar Square will host the largest anti-nuclear demonstration in recent history this February; an estimated 50,000 people will attend.

Campaigners will protest the governments plans to spend over £100 billion on renewing the UK's nuclear deterrant submarine program, Trident.

The outrageous budget dedicated to this project has sparked an national dispute about the benefits of renewing our nuclear program.

In recent years, the public have felt anxiety and uncertainty in the wake of harsh cuts to benefits and services like the downsized NHS.

We ask where the money is going and whether it would be better spent supporting our citizens and services, rather than encouraging privatisation and armament.

Funding more extreme nuclear measures only benefits corporations that profit from war. In terms of us as citizens, it does nothing but waste our resources and provoke aggression from others.

The national demonstration will start at Marble Arch in London at 12pm on the 27 of this month and will make its way to Trafalgar Square.

Nicola Sturgeon of the SNP will also make an appearance alongside other politicians who oppose Trident.
