Popping Off to Plymouth

What would you do with £1,500? Take a holiday abroad, buy a used car or maybe invest it in enough bud to see you through the end of 2015?
Well, you don’t have to worry about it because you don’t have a choice as you’ve just handed all of it to your landlord, the guy who still refuses to fix the heating in your flat because November isn’t as cold as December. Well fuck him and fuck that because £1,500 is now the average price to rent a home or flat in the capital, despite the fact that your wages haven’t gone up along with it.
So what’s a Londoner to do? Should you just suck it up and move into a cupboard under the stairs like one flat in Clapham is suggesting? Maybe you should take another job but at night. Then you’d have more money and no longer need a room big enough to fit a bed. Whatever, sleep is for the living and these days you're living to work.
For those not willing to live with their parents or put up with crowds of house mates in a flat share, there is still one more option. Although unthinkable to some, we're suggesting that maybe it's time to move out of London. That’s right, we’re saying abandon London to the billionaires and move to another city. We have the power to make anywhere the new place to be so let's get together and do it. To help you along, below are a few places you may wish to consider popping off to and looking for a flat.
Plymouth
If you’re willing to move out to the not so wild-west then Plymouth is the spot for you. As of this month the average flat in Plymouth will only set you back about £616 pcm and that’s the whole flat. If you’re a student just looking for a room then be sure to budget about £372 pcm. That’s less than half of what you’d be shelling out in London.
Cardiff
Think you could get used to sunbathing on the beaches of the Bristol Channel? Neither do we but Cardiff already has the reputation for having a wild nightlife so why not spend your daily life there as well. To have the whole flat to yourself you’re looking at £763 pcm for a flat and £419 pcm for the room. A little pricier than Plymouth but still a far cry from the wages draining rents over in the capital.
Leeds
Okay, so we’re headed north and making Leeds the new place to be. You have be hard though, for in Leeds people are going out in short sleeves and skirts in the middle of January, so get your beer blanket on before heading out to the pubs. Rent prices in Leeds are similar to those in Cardiff, averaging about £719 pcm for a flat and £436 for a single room. Cheers.
Norwich
Are you trying to stay within a couple hours of London? Then maybe Norwich is the place to be as rental prices are even lower than the previous two cities. For a flat in Norwich we’re talking about £649 pcm a month. That’s less than both Cardiff and Leeds. For a room we’re looking at about £376. Hell, you might actually be able to save something.
Glasgow
Last but definitely not least is Glasgow. Glasgow is already a great fucking town and worth living in whether rents are high or not. Luckily for us, they’re still fairly affordable at £610 pcm for a flat and £378 pcm for a room. Get on it and don’t worry if you think you’ll have a hard time with the accent, a few stiff whiskey drinks will fix that nicely.
