Today is Venues Day, where delegates from across the UK meet together and discuss ways to keep our venues safe.
Designed for the smaller, grass roots venues the day will bunch representatives for venues across the UK with patners from the government and cultural industry heads to tackle some of the issues facing music venues.
The sold out day, taking place at Ministry of Sound, gives a Q&A session with the Minister State for Culture and the Shadow Culture Secretary among others sitting on the panel before a variety of workshops that focus on two things, business and costings.
This year’s event is the second to take place after last years debut and it hopes to engage smaller venues with tips and ideas and to set up links with other likeminded people and share best practice, innovation and leadership qualities. It’s important that this kind of event takes place, as the war against music venues has never been more obvious, the number of music venues in London alone has fallen to 88 from 136 since 2007.
Be part of the solution, buy tickets to a local gig or club night and go, then return as much as possible. Lets save our thriving music culture from disappearing from under our noses!
