Charlotte Church will protest-sing at Shell HQ tomorrow

Other | Tuesday 25th August 2015 | Federica

The Arctic ice is melting, and oil is likely to be found underneath the lighter and lighter surface. Shell has finally got the permission it needed to start drilling the ice there, endangering the fragile environment and animal species that live there.

Singer Charlotte Church won't keep her head down, and will perform tomorrow at London's Shell HQ to protest against the oil company's run for money. Other musicians will perform as well in the Requiem for Arctic Ice series of show inspired by the famous story of the quartet continuing to play as the Titanic went down.

Church is going to sing a version of 'This Bitter Earth', a combination of works originally by Max Richter and Dinah Washington.

The performance is meant to raise UK staff's awareness of the problem, in order to try to stop the run for money, which will most likely damage the environment and animals that live in the Arctic.

Vivienne Westwood launched a t-shirt collection a few weeks ago to show the world that the Arctic is something we should all be concerned about.
