A new public library, dedicated to music, is opening its doors in Seoul, South Korea.
'Music Library + Understage' is the new place to be for music lovers in Seoul. The concept is simple - you can read a book and listen to a vinyl record of your choice in the same time. Over 10,000 records and 3,000 books are available. All the books are based around music. For example, all the Rolling Stone magazine issues from 1967 to today are available for reading. One floor is reserved for different types of musical events and performances like concerts, DJ sets or conferences.
The building, designed by architect Moongyu Choi, is quite remarkable, and is based in the quarter of Hannam-Dong. Moongyu Choi explains: "I hope this place will be useful for many kinds of people. I speak to some people who are looking for inspiration in music and to people who only come to relax, unwind, have a fresh drink and listen to good music".
The initiative has been financed by the company HyundaiCard who invited a lot of artists form everywhere around the world to decorate the place.
The vice-president of this new musical library says: "Through the project 'Music Library + Understage', we want to give Koreans the opportunity to discover every musical masterpiece for free". See for yourself how beautiful it is:
