If you ever wanted to know what countries are the most gay-friendly, look no further because Planet Romeo, a website that launched a study in many countries to calculate their Gay Happiness Index, has compiled their top ten.
1. Iceland (79/100 Gay Happiness Index)
Iceland is the first country to have elected a gay Prime Minister, social-democrat Johanna Sigurdadottir, who was elected in 2009.
2. Norway (77/100 GHI)
In Norway civil marriage and adoption has been permitted since 2009 and the church also allow preachers to be gay.
3. Denmark (76/100 GHI)
Being homosexual in Denmark has been legal since 1933.
4. Sweden (73/100 GHI)
Sweden has allowed religious marriage between people of the same sex since 2009.
5. Uruguay (73/100 GHI)
The LGBT community is strong in Uruguay. Not only are relationships between homosexual people legal but it is forbidden to discriminate against them. Homosexuals have the right to find a job in the army, to marry and to adopt children.
6. Canada (72/100 GHI)
Canada is very gay-friendly - you can marry your partner here even if you are not Canadian. Lots of people from America took advantage of this rule becuase they couldn't marry in the US.
7. Israel (71/100 GHI)
Tel-Aviv is one the most important LGBT-friendly capitals on the planet. The country also gives Israeli citizenship to those who marry Jews but are not Jewish themselves.
8. Netherlands (71/100 GHI)
Netherlands was the first country ever to legalise gay marriage in 2001.
9. Switzerland (70/100 GHI)
Switzerand's citizens voted in favor of gay-marriage with 58% of the population saying yes.
10. Luxembourg (70/100 GHI)
Same sex marriage and adoption rights were passed in Luxembourg in June 2014, with the law taking effect from the start of this year.
