Spor and another date to go down in the London rave bible at The Nest

Drum and Bass | Saturday 14th March 2015 | Nick

Jon Gooch, more commonly known as Feed Me and Spor, revisited his roots with a new perspective on the drum and bass world through Spor's eyes at The Nest in Dalston. With support from Joe Ford and Skanandbass, the night took an atmospheric turn I personally have never experienced at The Nest before. Skankandbass had no trouble setting the mood with fiery, aggressive jump up and as the room filled up there was almost no room by the time Spor came out.

Having already seen Jon under his Feed Me alias, I had high expectations and was not disappointed one bit. His new album Caligo is lined with contorting reese bases, ambient pads and those oh-so-wonderful moments when you realise you can't get enough of a song. My favourite from his album is here, give it a listen.

Now if that's not enough, the raw talent that is Spor produced a set that included not only new but very old productions from him. With songs like 'Aztec', '1up' and 'Do Not Shake' it was a drum and bass raver's dream. A high energy set, with great mixing techniques added to an array of beautiful, well picked tracks, what more could you want other than to live the night again?

I'm certain Jon had a phenomenal time too, coming back to his home town and giving a speech after his set that was honestly, touching. He thanked us all for our continued support and downloads of the album, which went online for free, but if you wanted to pay anything towards it you could. His iconic black contact lenses now clearly visible, a very tired crowd of people in Dalston clapped their hands and whistled with what energy was left in gratification to a drum and bass legend.

Another date to go down in the London rave bible.
