Berlin producer drops a bomb

Aera is the Berlin producer best known for trippy house which makes excursions into UK bass and electro, alongside the impressionistic blur of other references which inform his sound. His latest offering comes through Maeve, the label run by Mano le Tough, the Drifter and Baikal.
The track, 'You Know Juno', sounds like something the three would play, so is perfect for fans of that ilk of house – dancefloor-ready enough to ignite a room of clubbers and arty enough to please dance music connoisseurs. The bass is a curious creation, modulated into strange shapes over melancholic synths. Whilst it’s a bit too bizarre to be the hit of the season, it’s a fitting addition to the repertoire of a producer becoming known for exotic, new sounds.
The Drifter hits the nail on the head in his remix, coaxing the full potential out of its arresting bassline by working moody pads around it. Upbeat and energetic, his version of the track is a lot more likeable than Aera’s.
