X&Y Festival 2013

X&Y Festival returns to Liverpool for its second year, and features a stellar line-up of the finest up and coming bands the UK has to offer. Last years instalment of the festival was a storming success, and this year promises to far exceed that with the festival being relocated from The Bombed Out Church to the much larger O2 Academy. As well as an upgraded venue, the festival is also boasting a vastly improved line-up.
The bill is topped by Nottingham five piece indie pop band Dog is Dead whose debut album All Our Favourite Stories was released last year to critical acclaim. Hailing from Birmingham, JAWS are rapidly making a name for themselves by riding the current wave of fresh music coming from the B-Town scene from the likes of Peace and Swim Deep, which has culminated in a support slot for Primal Scream at their Glastonbury warm up show and a sold out EP.
Formed in 2008, Life in Film is a Hackney four piece indie group who draw on influences such as The Smith and Joy Division to create their own brand of jangle pop. The band is currently working on their debut album with legendary producer Stephen Street (The Smiths, Babyshambles) which is due for release in 2013. They released their debut EP ‘Needles and Pins’ in August 2012.
Representing Wales is Catfish and the Bottlemen, a rock and roll band from Llandudno who are described as ‘Four lads with songs that are loud, explosive, sexy and young – and full of guitars.’ Championed by Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe, these guys are definitely one to catch before they explode into the bigger venues.
The line-up is completed by The Crookes, The Heartbreaks, Childhood, Young Kato, Broken Hands, Deaf Club, Dexters, Run Tiger Run, Wired and many more, with even more still to be announced.
With tickets available at the bargain price of £16.50 there is no excuse to miss this superb festival which takes place on the 6th-7th July 2013.
