The Light Show @ The Hayward Gallery
Thursday 2nd May 2013 | Ramona
The best way to describe the light show at the Hayward gallery is as a sensory explosion, with pieces from artists such as Dan Flavin and Jenny Holzer the lightshow is an exploration of the evolving use of light within art over the past century, it’s safe to say it is like nothing you have seen before in any one space.
The exhibition looks at the effect light has on us and how one of our most heavily relied on senses cannot always be trusted, some pieces are fun and tongue in cheek, whereas others are highly scientific and aim to make the viewer aware of how such an everyday thing such as light can be overlooked whilst completely altering ones perception.
The exhibition has been extended until Monday the 6th of May but has sold out quickly so if you are lucky enough to have tickets make sure you check out James Turrells ‘Wegework V’ and Conrad Shawcross’s ‘Slow Arc Inside a Cube IV’. If you don’t have tickets yet then be prepared to beg borrow and steal to get them because The Light show is one not to be missed.
