Indie Album of the month: Exile

Wednesday 24th April 2013 | Maria

English duo Hurts takes us back to their synthetic paradise with their second album Exile. Released in March 2013 the album contains fourteen powerful songs, introduced by a trippy intro and revealing a more futuristic scene than what Hurts has got us used to. Last year we could take a look at the mini-promo video The Road, followed by the single Miracle released this January and now that we can listen to the whole album we can say we are more than satisfied. Electric guitars are mixed with acoustic pianos to create dramatic and emotional tunes while the synthetic trend that defines Hurts still remains. The band has positioned themselves somewhere in between Muse and Depeche Mode but with their own personal touch of electro pop. Fun fact: the name of the album came up to singer Leo Hutchcraft‘s mind while sitting at a bar in Japan and looking around at the billboards the only word he could understand was “Exile”. Don’t forget to watch the recently released video Blind, I can assure you won’t stop humming this and the rest of the catchy tunes - made in Manchester.
