Don Broco presents Broco at Koko
Friday 19th April 2013 | Osh
Thursday night brought the Don Broco Priorities tour to an end, with their biggest performance yet, at north London’s prestige venue – Koko.
It seems the nerves got to them as they’re performance was strained and hesitant throughout. This is understandable of course as musicians tour for weeks without a break, travelling all over the place, having to give stand up performances every single night.
The performance wasn’t awful; the Broco boys know they’re set throughout. It just seems they all needed some sleep, some TLC and a little rest from playing.
The fans instantly understood these guys were shattered, but still danced their hearts out. It seems Broco’s crowd has an elite age barrier now, if you’re not 17 or under, you aren’t allowed to enjoy their music without a look of distaste from the ‘new’ fans.
However, the performance was well thought out and ended on a bang, letting balloons filled with confetti fall from the ceiling and playing their most recent singles last. As much as the boys didn’t look interested in being there, they still tried to show the younger fans that they were special, why not? Kidzone needs a new representative.
Support came from ex Gallows frontman Frank Carter and his new pals in Pure Love. These guys stole the show; ending the set Frank shouted ‘We’re obviously your new favourite band’.
Their set was full of excitement, from Frank starting the show in the middle of the crowd, to climbing up to one of the royal boxes and attempting to jump before security started crying.
Being quite a new band, these guys don’t really have a ‘classic’ set list, so they just played everything they had.
These Rock & Roll enthusiasts proved their worth, performing the last three songs with the drummer having his kit set up in the middle of the crowd, with the audience running around him and crashing into him every 30 seconds.
It seems Pure Love stole this show at Koko, but this goes without saying, Frank has been performing for longer than the Broco boys, he’s travelled more countries, played bigger venues and learnt the tricks of his trade.
Broco have some catching up to do, but show huge potential with their pretty boy outfit, witty verses and catchy chorus’. Broco at Koko will happen again, and I hope it is more thought out.
