Psy releases "Gentleman" video; let the dance mania begin (again)
Monday 15th April 2013 | Osh
Hot off the heels of the Harlem Shake phenomenon, Psy is ready to reclaim pop culture notoriety by releasing the music video for his latest single, Gentleman, which you can feast on eyes on below.
This time around, Psy’s attempt at pop culture domination involves a hip-swaying dance which originates from the 2009 hit “Abracadabra” by Korean girl group Brown Eyed Girls. The video shows Psy behaving rather ungentleman-like towards women and children and, as you can imagine, dancing in random places, such as a library, a field, and by an indoor pool.
If we’re being honest, Gentleman falls a bit short musically compared to Gangnam Style. Without the video and dance to bring its legacy up, Gentleman would just be another generic, albeit catchy, electropop song. While it’s still unclear whether Gentleman will top Gangnam Style, there’s no doubt that it’ll be another massive hit, and a pat on the back for Psy.
