Devendra Banhart reeks of natural talent

Tuesday 9th April 2013 | Varala

Don’t let the Charles Manson image fool you; Devendra Banhart is only a harmless musician.

Banhart has a style so obscure, they call it ‘new weird’ music. But the Texas born singer who grew up with a Venezuelan mother and American father has more than just ‘weird’ music. Fusing elements from folk, psych and rock is his specialty. Now, he’s known as the guy who has single-handedly blended his own genre of music that reeks of natural talent.

If you fancy yourself some ‘new weird’ indie, get your tickets for Banhart's gig at The Barbican on Thursday 18th July 2013.
