Nicola Formichetti leaves Mugler

Wednesday 3rd April 2013 | Serena

Nicola Formichetti after two years of futuristic garments and Lady Gaga's inspiration leaves the french fashion house of Thierry Mugler.

Joel Palix, president of Clarins Fragrance Group (which owns Mugler) and director general of Mugler said that the split was a "mutual" decision, and in a statement revealed that probably the designer, obsessed with pandas, it was just a checker put on purpose to brighten up the brand ,relaunching it and bringing Mugler to a new audience, his audience.

As WWD reported , in the statement Palix thanks the designer for his work : "Nicola has accomplished our original mission of bringing his energy to the brand. With his talent for communication and understanding modern imagery and design, Nicola has been instrumental in attracting a new audience which is undeniably crucial for the future strategy of the house. He will be a historical part of the Mugler legacy and known as the force that catapulted us forward. "

Nicola Formichetti in fact, quickly became one of those celebrity fashion designers, with millions of followers on twitter and a public that follows his every move, and every new artist that he estimates. His collaboration as stylist of her friend, the global super star Lady Gaga, was crucial in his professional life, launching its controversial garments worldwide, upon to an artist who certainly is not afraid to take risks - like the raw meat dress she wore at the Mtv Video Music Awards 2010. More recently is taking care of the rounded shapes of the Kim Kardashian's pregnancy, making her go around always with an impeccable style and not sloppy maternity wear, as we can see in her latest Elle photoshoot.

Its collections have not always been welcomed graciously by the reviews, but the work in terms of recognition of the brand was impeccable, making Mugler one of the most prolific fashion house on social networks in a very short time.

We are sure we will not miss him because he's involved in so many other collateral projects that we will see him around again very soon, as he wrote on his Twitter yesterday after the official announcement of the news : “its was a great 2 years at MUGLER. hope you all enjoyed our journey together. but now its time to move on!!”
