My Chemical Romance Splits
Tuesday 26th March 2013 | Osh
Alternative rock band My Chemical Romance has announced that they are breaking up.
News broke out after a statement was released late last week on their official website, which states:
“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.”
Lead singer Gerard Way has also took to Twitter to post a ridiculously long, surprisingly beautiful message regarding the band’s split.
Amounting to nearly 2000 words, the message goes through lots of things, from a metaphor about a trapped bird, to the reasons for the band’s split (which is never really stated) to the detailing of a concert in New Jersey during which Way realise he’s lost touch, culminating in a shout out to Way’s band and crew, thanking them for the journey and saying My Chemical Romance is an idea that will never die.
You can read the full message here. In the meantime, check out Welcome to the Black Parade (off MCR’s 2006 album The Black Parade) and mourn.
