App of the month: Clay Jam

Thursday 7th March 2013 | sana

Only three months since its release Clay Jam has had over 657,000 estimated downloads on the iPhone and 106,000 on the iPad. Constantly moving forward Fat Pebble has succeeded in creating the first stop-motion, hand made claymation game available on the AppStore. The aim of the game is to defeat the Bully Beasts and restore the land of Clay Jam. Each level consists of a hill, which you have to rebuild in order to complete. The initial game play shows a ball of clay rolling on the hill and you and have to swipe creating an inverted path for the ball to follow, squishing things in your path! Each noodle, tickity bob, bare face, or heavy head you squish gives you clay (points) to upgrade your hill, and the more you upgrade and buy new things to squish the bigger your ball of clay becomes! At the end of each hill is a bully beast you have to kick away, the bigger your ball of clay the further he will be pushed until the hill is fully upgraded. What I found unique about this game is that you don’t have to finish one hill before starting another; each hill is different to the one before, including the color, with different shapes and objects to squish along the way.
