British fashion label Bellville Sassoon will hold an exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum.
Belville Sassoon is one of the only fashion labels to have designed for every member of the Royal Family, except from the Queen as well as Hollywood legends Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.
Designer, David Sassoon told Vogue “I retired after 55 years last year and as a trustee of the museum, I've helped mount a few of the exhibitions held there - so it made sense to hold the retrospective there, I've had a long career - I joined the label in 1958, so the exhibition really shows the diversity in fashion over quite an extensive period."
One of the brands finest moments was when designer David Sassoon designed the infamous off the shoulder gown for Princess Diana in 1981, Sassoon told Vogue it was the highlight of his career "The day after she wore it, I started receiving hundreds of letters from children telling me how much they adored it. It was a child's vision of the perfect princess dress."
Bellville Sassoon’s maternity ideas for Diana will be displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition will include 150 creations from six decades and opens September 20th-January 11th.
