Move out the way Hollywood, Camden Town has been given the Go ahead to have its own walk of fame!
This summer Camden’s walk of fame will begin with thirty discs being unveiled including the late Amy Winehouse who resided in Camden, her disc will be revealed in September making what would have been the singers thirtieth birthday.
The idea for the Camden walk of fame came from when Lee Bennett, a British music producer was visiting the Hollywood walk of fame with his ten year old son who asked why there wasn’t one in the UK.
Camden has been described to be one of the quirkiest places in London and holds some of the best music venues such as The Jazz Cafe, The Electric Ballroom, Koko and The Roundhouse.
The walk, like Hollywoods will be used to celebrate some of the most famous musicians with an outstanding contribution to music.
Rumours have sparked that there will be a concert held after the big reveal in the summer to celebrate and to pay respect to musicians that have passed away and Bennett has admitted he would like bands who have split up to reform for the event.
As well as Amy Winehouse, some of the front runner artists up for nomination to get the honour of appearing on the walk are; Blur, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Grand Master Flash, Led Zeppelin, Madness, Soul II Soul, The Doors and The Who
A final list will be announced in May where the public will be able to vote for who they think are worthy for the walk of fame on the Walk of Fame website. Winning musicians will be divided into groups such as influential artists, icons, innovative artists, unsung heroes and industry types (managers and producers)
We cant wait to see it!
