PREVIEW: Eminem to Headline Reading and Leeds Festival 2013!
Tuesday 11th December 2012 | Martin
Guess who’s back, back again? Shady’s back!
Reading and Leeds Festival have revealed that Eminem is returning to their main stages for next August’s weekend of carnage. Tell a friend.
Eminem, Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers. A man of many names, whilst probably the most controversial artist in the history of music, and one of the most successful rappers to have lived, will be gracing Britain’s biggest rock stage next summer. His arrival will mark the 11th anniversary of when Mr. Mathers last played this festival, and the years have witnessed challenging times for him and the world of music. Despite releasing four solo albums and starring in his own film (8 Mile) in this time, Eminem also entered rehabilitation for his addiction to prescription drugs and thus went on musical hiatus. After a four year interlude, Shady released Relapse – the aptly named album in which he confesses his drug issue – that received mixed reviews and little acclaim. However, just a year later came Recovery, in which he collaborated with synonymous artists such as Rihanna and Lil Wayne, and his musical “recovery” seemed full.
Adding to the excitement of Eminem’s imminent return to the UK is the expected release of another studio album next year. The news became apparent because of a hat being sold on his website – that is embroidered with the years of his album release dates – which includes the year 2013 written on the side. So the Reading and Leeds Festivals will not only witness a legend performing his greatest hits, but presumably his new material too!
Here is a clip of Eminem collaborating with Marilyn Manson as he did at the festival in 2001. Who might he collaborate with at the Reading and Leeds Festivals (23-25 August) in 2013?
