UK Festival Awards 2012 already on track

Thursday 4th October 2012 | Raquel

The awards ceremony is happening on the evening of Monday, 3rd December at the Roundhouse in Camden, the same place as last years and it will be hosted by Phill Jupitus.

Summer is already gone and the cold weather is here to stay (I know, UK is not the land of sun and heat, but still) and what remain with us are the great memories lived with our friends in those festivals who made our summer the best one so far.

So now is time to relive this summer with the UK Festival Awards in its ninth edition. These awards are a celebration of all the festivals held in the UK, having lots of categories for every type of festival and a single one for overseas festivals. More than 200 festivals have applied to take part in this year awards and veterans as Reading and Leeds, T in the Park and V Festival are in for The Best Major Festival category among others and the newcomer Bestival also has a chance to win this big honor. Since Glastonbury was sadly cancelled, there is no prize for this huge festival which we missed so much this year but hopefully in 2013 it will rise again to the top from where it actually never left.

If you went to an overseas festival you can chose in Best Overseas Festival from Fuji Rock (Japan), passing though Optimus Alive (Portugal) and ending in the well-known Lollapalooza (USA), among others.

It is now open to public/festival-goers the opportunity to vote for the best fitting festival in each category until the 31st October 2012. If you want to express your opinion go to www.festivalawards.com/vote and you’ll find 13 different categories with an endless list of festivals to vote for.
