Spoony 's Festival Fired Guestlist Playlist - Soul Session FEST (Rescheduled date Sun 23rd July)

House | Wednesday 12th July 2023 | Nicky

BBC Radio 2’s weekend party starter, DJ Spoony drops us his top 10 tracks for Soul Summer FEST on Sunday, 23rd July at Colesdale Farm in Potters Bar, 45 minutes from London.

Resident at Ocean Beach in Ibiza every Thursday, DJ Spoony is one of the foundation talents of the UK Garage scene with his Dreem Team partners, and also headlines Garage Classical events. Hugely in demand across the summer festival and club calendar, DJ Spoony compiles his Festival Fired Playlist.

1. ‘Horizon Red’ - Made by Pete feat Zoe Kypri

One of my favourite tracks of ’23. Deep, soulful, hypnotic and simply brilliant. A modern classic.

2. ‘Twyst This’ - Karizma

A track from yesteryear that I seem to always plays. The energy is omnipresent and I love mixing with it.

3. ‘Annie’ - Majestic

The most excellent use of Kid Creole’s original with two drops that are epic. Sumptuous from our own ‘Maj’

4.’Woman’ David Harness edit - Dojo Cat

Using a track that sounds a little like ‘Cure and The Cause’ but with Dojo’s vocal. Big tune for the dancefloor

5. ‘History Repeating’ - Rona Ray feat Ezel

A gorgeous soulful, vocal offering that’s so good, the first time you hear it you’ll think you’ve known it for years.

6. ‘Relentless’ - Grant Nelson

More magic from one of UK Garage’s founders. A 2023 bullet with its roots firmly placed in the golden years of the genre.

7. ‘Bass Whistler’ - Oxide

Made for the dance floor, this has definite festival vibes. A very under-rated producer.

8. ‘Lockdown’ - Jook 10

This came out a few years ago and still sounds so so good. The beats will make you move. Another power play of mine.

9. ‘Go’ Crazy Cousinz Remix - Meleka

There is something joyous for a DJ hearing their audience sing along and this tune is one of the best for it. UK funky at its finest.

10. ‘War Riddim’ - Sticky

The man behind the legendary ‘Boo’ with Ms Dynamite gives us the stripped back version for this straight banger.
