New York Fashion Week saw Victoria Beckham as the most talked about designer.
When Victoria Beckham first moved into fashion designing, much of the world wondered if this would be a successful transition. However, she has now proved her worth at New York Fashion Week the other week, where she displayed her spring/summer 2013 collection.
During the event, she built up a staggering 57,000 new Twitter followers, far more than any other designer. Rebecca Minkoff came second in the running for new followers, gaining a mere 30,000 compared to Victoria.
It was not only new followers which proved Victoria Beckham was the talking point of the fashion week. There were over 17,000 mentions of her new collection on the social media site, almost 10,000 more than that of Marc Jacobs, who came in second.
However, looking at Mrs Beckham’s social media strategy it is clear this was one of her main focuses for gaining support. The strategy included using Twitter for both personal and brand messaging to give audiences a sense of the whole experience, from a designer’s perspective and from audiences.
On show were two collections: her mainline Victoria Beckham range and her secondary Victoria, Victoria Beckham line. Both have been highly successful since she first launched them and it cannot be denied that she has made a big impact in the fashion industry.
