iPod Touch and Nano Get a New Look

Thursday 13th September 2012 | Osh

You cannot escape the release of the new iPhone 5 which hit stores yesterday. However, Apple is also on the verge of releasing a new range of iPod Touch and Nanos. The latest generation of iPods are both experiencing a new updated look as well as internal quality.

The iPod Touch reflects some of what can be found on the iPhone 5. The 3.5-inch display will be extended to a 4-inch, 1136×640-pixel Retina display featured on the new iPhone. As well as this, the iPod Touch’s camera is getting a boost to a 5-megapixel “iSight” shooter at the back.

It is also getting an update inside: the Touch will include an A5 dual-core chipset, the first Touch of this kind, making the new Touch seven times faster than the previous models. It also features the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 6, and Siri, the voice-activated app featured in the iPhone 4S.

As well as being thinner and lighter, the Touch gets a new aluminium case, available in different colours (blue, yellow, red and silver).

The iPod Nano has also been updated. It is now rectangular in shape and a miniscule 5 mm thin making in the thinnest iPod ever made. It has a 2.5-inch display which features one-colour wallpapers to match the aluminium body and circular apps. Apple, it has been rumoured, has also promised a 30 hour battery life for the Nano.

For those interested in using it for exercise, a pedometer feature is accessible as well as a Nike+ app for tracking runs.

So the next few months will not just be about the rise of the iPhone, it will also see a change in the always popular iPod Touch and Nano which are available to pre-order now.
