Lil Wayne files lawsuit against Quincy Jones III

The US rapper Lil Wayne is suing Quincy Jones III for using his music in a documentary about him. Music-News.com have reported that Lil Wayne claimed the film - known as ‘The Carter’ - was a ‘scandalous potrayal’ of him and has expressed hatred of the film since its release. The documentary features Lil Wayne, who allows the cameras to follow him around and gives viewers an insight into his life.

However, Lil Wayne states that he did not give permission for the producers to use his music in the film. The film features hits such as ‘Lollipop’ and ‘A Milli’ from his multi-platinum selling album Tha Carter III. The film in total has a whopping eight Lil Wayne tracks which has lead the rapper to ask for unspecified damages and an order prohibiting the producers from using his music.

It’s bound to be a change in position for the artist, who has been sued himself five times in the last five years, the last one being by Done Deal Enterprises who claimed he ‘stole’ his 2010 ‘Bedrock’, a collaboration with Drake and Nicki Minaj.

This is Quincy Jones III’s, whose father produced for Michael Jackson, second time to be sued concerning ‘The Carter’, the first being in 2009.

The rapper won Best Hip-Hop Video with Drake for their track 'HYFR' at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday (06.09.12).
