If anyone is in university or has recently graduated you will know what I mean when I say, it’s a total bitch sometimes finding primary resources that are easily accessible and actually relevant. And finding them all in the one spot...Impossible!
The London School of Economics and Political Science has made available to all you seekers of knowledge over a 1000 recordings of their prestigious public lecture programme as well as other LSE podcasts on the world’s leading social sound platform SoundCloud.
According to LSE the podcasts of LSE public lectures include speakers from across the globe with talks by academics such as Professor Paul Krugman and Professor Amartya Sen, as well as politicians such as prime minister David Cameron and former US president Bill Clinton. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Bill Gates, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook also feature.
In fact this is going to be great not just for the those studying at university but also those who are pondering the more complex notions in life and need a little direction one way or the other. LSE on SoundCloud will also host the School’s Causes and Things podcast, a new podcast series which offers a lively introduction to some of the ideas being explored by researchers at LSE, and the LSE Review of Books podcast, which aims to give listeners the opportunity to hear prolific authors and academics discuss the ideas behind their latest books.
So if this tickles your academic fancy the content will also be available on the LSE video and audio pages and iTunes U, can be enjoyed by anyone via the SoundCloud website or the SoundCloud apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. LSE on SoundCloud, which has already gained over twenty thousand followers while the service was in beta, will bring this content to an even wider audience and will give users the opportunity to share, embed and comment on the podcasts.
The term democracy of information comes to mind and what an appropriate format for it. For all the uni students out there who left their assignments till the night before (don’t deny it, I know I did... sometimes) here is a brilliant resource for you. And for everyone else, enjoy!
