Beatles Museum In Hamburg Closing Due To ‘Lack Of Interest’
Thursday 7th June 2012 | Osh
The five storey ‘Beatlemania’ will close down at the end of this month, three years after it was opened.
The building holds 1,000 pieces of memorabilia but manager Folkert Koopmans said there have only been 150,000 visitors since opening.
The museum is located in the same place that the Beatles played live shows when visiting Germany in the 60s.
Fans continue to buy memorabilia of the Fab Four at auctions, and their popularity still remains strong. A rare photograph of the Beatles walking backwards across Abbey Road was sold last month for £16,000. Also, a document showing how the band refused to play to segregated crowds was sold for $23,000 in 2011.
Their legacy will still live on regardless of the closure.
