They have been around for a while now but it’s about time we recognise the immense talent that the following females emulate.
Nicki Minaj
She is a worldwide success story and the only female that is not only bossing the whole of America but overseas as well. Her style of rapping is a new and modern version of Lil Kim’s as she knows exactly how to deliver to her loving and loyal fans. Nicki is like the man controller in her record label full of men with big names and even bigger songs. Collaborating and associating herself with the likes of Lil Wayne and Drake make her not only as good as these artists but just as well known. In October 2010, she became the first female rapper to have seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart which was only the start of her success. Now, she has stopped building her profile and is completely focused on maintaining the mark she has made on the music industry.
Jessie J
It’s amazing when a female is at the peak of her talent and it is recognised beyond the Essex streets she was brought up on. With a voice that can send thrills of pleasure or create hiccups of fear in you she is the voice of musical reason. She has already been a judge on The Voice, giving her critical acclaim as someone who knows her music and is an exceptional singer. Her tune ‘Do It Like A Dude’ gave her a boost to fame as a club banger that got us clubbers hitting hard on the floor. In complete parallel ‘Who You Are’ has soft melodies and a beautiful message which shows us the scope of Jessie’s talent. She’s doing it for the ‘dudettes’ and she’s doing it hard!
Tulisa
True to herself and the inscription tattooed on her arm, Tulisa is one of the biggest female bosses. From the underground music scene in Camden she has taken the U.K by storm. As part of N-Dubz she was the dominant female always hitting her notes and showcasing her unique voice. A favourite of mine is ‘Comfortable’ which is on the N-Dubz album Against All Odds and true to form Tulisa beat the life of an estate child against all of the odds. It means so much to the young girls being brought up in London estates that some random girl from North West London actually made it big. It did take time and a lot of effort but when Tulisa became the judge of X Factor at the age of 23 and she grew ten-folds in the music industry. A true inspiration for those who hide behind their circumstances.
Rihanna
This popular American beauty has been smacking us in the face for so many years now. She released her album Music of the Sun at the young age of 17 which was applauded by so many. Nearly a decade later and she’s still going strong and in the lime light. Worldwide tours have become second nature for this regal songstress who has released six albums with legendary tunes that people will be shaking their booty to for years to come. Whilst dominating the female music scene she is also a philanthropist and an actress. For a moment forget music being her talent it’s all about being able to multi task with the skills of a ninja. Starting young doesn’t mean you’re inexperienced, it means you’ve got years to improve and perfect and better yourself.
Beyoncé
‘Ooo boy you’re looking like you like what you see… ’ (‘Check On It’), we’ve been looking, listening and appreciating for years. Sexy, seductive, elegant, glamorous and sophisticated are a few words to describe the queen of R&B. Beyoncé embodies female power on a whole new level where stride after stride she has been a success and having a family won’t be the end of her over powering presence. Show after show her performances surpass with perfection and her vocal chords are a never fail form of justice. This is music that can create tears whilst you’re shacking out on the dance floor because you can hear her heart through her penetrating voice.
All of the above ladies have the type of presence that demands attention and each have grown to fame in their own way. Use their stories as inspiration to build yourself and your dreams.
