The Americans haven't really grasped the sound of Grime music and why it's so embraced over this side of the Atlantic. North London rapper Chip (formerly known as Chipmunk) is hoping to change that. Having gone platinum with his first album I Am Chipmunk and producing iPod favourites such as ‘Take Off’ featuring female heartthrob Trey Songz & ‘Champion’ featuring RnB bad boy Chris Brown on his second album Transition, he's back with a highly self promoted about Mixtape titled London Boy.
It seems Chip has been busy building bridges over in the states, as sources say fans are in for a treat. Since his last album, Chip has parted ways from his former label Sony Entertainment and was quickly swooped up by hip hop mogul T.I. to join his ever growing record label Grand Hustle. Alongside Chip on the label are well known artists B.O.B and new female rap prodigy Iggy Azalea.
With all the hype surrounding the release of London Boy, it's bound to be a collective of street sounds to match that of the Americans. Chip's been teasing fans with video diaries showing the progress being made in the US, but now that wait is over! The mixtape is due to drop sometime this summer.
Watch out Soulja Boy, there's a new young talent about to cause a riot, and this one can actually rap!
