Whitney Houston's family will be the subjects of a new reality TV series due to air later this year. Houston's brother, sister-in-law, mother and daughter will all star in The Houston Family Chronicles, which will follow the grieving family across 10 one-hour episodes.
The series will centre on Whitney's brother, Gary Houston, and his wife, Pat, who worked as the singer's manager. It focuses on their new role as protectors for Bobbi Kristina, Whitney's 19-year-old daughter. "They [must] take on their greatest challenge," according to the Lifetime network, "supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother."
This won't be Bobbi Kristina's first time as the star of a reality TV show: she appeared with both of her parents in the 2005 series Being Bobby Brown.
According to the series announcement, The Houston Family Chronicles was already in the works at the time of Whitney's death. "[Her] unexpected passing … certainly affects the direction of the show," Pat Houston said. "However it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward."
