Tourists Flock To Smurf Village
Thursday 19th April 2012 | Osh
A Spanish village has had a dramatic rise in tourism since it was painted blue for the making of a Smurfs movie last year.
The houses were previously white, but Juzcar (population 200) has received 125,000 visitors after its striking makeover.
The residents voted to keep the houses blue as it has provoked a lot of interest, increasing tourist potential. Even the church is blue!
The makeover is not necessarily permanent, but right now the locals are happy with the distinctive buildings.
