John Lydon: Ipods Are Selfish

The former Sex Pistols star has said that when he was growing up part of the fun was saving up for a record, describing is as an ‘honour’ for the artist. He said “I thought they’d done me an honour by making a record for me and made me feel part of it, like a cultural thing.”
Speaking about his love for vinyl, he said that records were vitally important to the development of music and culture but feels that the ipod separates us. “The streets are full of people bumping into lamp posts, listening to their own little universe and there’s no sharing in that.”
He thinks it’s ridiculous that nowadays nobody pays for anybody’s work. We think it’s great that you can download music for free!
