Magnetic Hover Bed

It took seven years of research for a Dutch designer to take a hovering bed out of science-fiction films and into reality.
Janjaap Ruijssenaars has worked over several years with Bakker Magnetics, a corporation specialising in new and innovative uses for magnets, to create this piece of furniture that seems out-of-this-world.
The bed floats around 1.3 feet off the floor and can support up to one tonne of weight! (So, you really would have to eat too much to succeed in breaking it.) The price? Only £750.000, which could be considered cheap, if you think that you are about to experience a part of the future.
And when its creator is asked if public demand will exist for his innovation, the simple answer is: if you spend in average a third of your life sleeping on something, it might as well be something nice!
