So you’ve booked a slot to DJ at a packed club night but for some reason find that as your set goes on, the floor keeps getting more and more empty. Here are six fail proof tunes to get the punters up out their seats or back off the bar straight back to skanking, as they should be.
6. Mark Instinct - Girls Girls (feat Messinian): Dark, heavy, energetic, and just filthy through and through. Its not as commercial as the other tunes featured on this list, but still always goes down huge. This is one of those tracks that force the crowd to erupt in a sea of sour lemon screw faces. 4. Nero - Crush On You: This is a song for the ladies. It’s commercially friendly enough to win back the crowd, yet still heavy enough not to squash your street cred. Nero is one of those heavy artists that’s crossed into the mainstream, so even those not heavily into dubstep can’t resist dancing to this. Throw this on and win over the whole club. 2. Avicii - Levels (Skrillex Remix): As much as it pains me to include Skrillex on this list, no one can deny this song. With a rather basic intro, you can utilize looping to tease the crowd, then bring it to the forefront when your ready and let the initial drop do the work for you. This is a useful track to have in your list for any dubstep slot you may book. The requests for "Bass Cannon" and "Got any Skrillex?" are the most common your likely to come across depending on where you play, so give the people what they want but for the love of god, enough with Bass Cannon! 1. Rusko - Cockney Thug (Caspa Remix): Granted four years ago, versions of Cockney Thug could compete with Bass Cannon for being overplayed. Yet now it has established itself as more of a forgotten classic. The bass on this track belongs in a cage; it also features that classic dubstep sound that needs a revival.
