Preview – FWD at Plastic People 22/3/2012

Thursday 15th March 2012 | Osh

In recent years the increasingly large umbrella of Dubstep has accommodated more than its fair share of sub standard releases and become so synonymous with poor quality control that many now treat the term as a dirty word. However in a genre which is often epitomised by arena tours and Radio One coverage, it is truly refreshing to say that the first ever Dubstep night can still lay claim to being the finest.

Held on Thursday nights at Plastic People in Hackney, FWD has maintained the same vibe since Hatcha first started playing Skream and Benga’s first forays into the world of production. Although visitors can no longer get away with lighting up in the almost pitch black of the dance-floor, the system is still weighty, the atmosphere still chilled and the music still of the highest quality. Next week sees a visit from Chestplate boss Distance with support from J:Kenzo, Commodo and LX One. Expect flawless mixing and scores of exclusive dubs from four of the scenes finest. Just keep your gun finger in its holster.
