Dance Academy In Honour Of Murdered 10 Year Old Rosie May

Friday 24th February 2012 | Osh

Rosie May Storrie died at a christmas party in Lincolnshire when she was murdered by a teenager in 2003.  A dance academy has been set up in her memory and her friends have spoken about their memories of her.  This is so that selected dancers could get the best trainers to give them a future that Rosie May had been denied.  They have been given an opportunity to pursue their dreams of a professional dance career, and credit her parent’s help for making it possible.

The Rosie May Academy in Bottesford ran until last summer and finished on what would have been her 18th birthday.

Roanna Dolman, a former academy graduate who is now at university studying dance, said she was inspired by Rosie May’s parents ‘who took something so tragic and gave me the opportunity to do something so wonderful.’  She said that she was proud and inspired by the family.

This is a very noble and touching act from a caring family who tried to make other people’s lives better, despite their own personal tragedy.
