He died in 1981 from cancer and still, he lives on.
The life of Robert Nesta Marley has been documented and will be distributed by Magnolia Pictures on April 20th in the USA (UK dates are still to be confirmed). Marley, directed by Scottish director Kevin Macdonald, has already been shown at the Berlin International Film Festival. It is also due for showing at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas from the 8th of March for a week.
Rare footage, photos, interviews from his friends, family and band mates and performances of the legend himself have been used to portray his life in what critics have been describing as “the definitive biography”. Bob Marley was without a doubt one of the greatest artists to bless his fan base with a timeless message of peace, love and unity. This is the first feature that has been backed by the family of Bob and so it is certainly one to watch!
He died at age 36 but "Bob Marley is a fascinating, towering figure in musical history, and Marley is the biography that he deserves," says Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles. This wonderfully crafted film is what Ziggy Marley, Bob’s son, described as “the ultimate revelation” of his father’s life. "The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey." Running at 144 minutes, this is certainly one to watch out for!
