Whitney Discovered Dead In The Bath
Tuesday 14th February 2012 | Osh
The untimely death of this internationally renowned artist sends ripples of sadness across the world.
On the 12th of February 2012, Whitney Houston’s body was found in the bathroom of her Beverly Hills Hotel room in Los Angeles. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to her death, Houston had embarked on a 48-hour drinks binge.
It is believed that a cocktail of alcohol and prescription drugs caused her death. A search of the room found supplies of Lorazepam, Valium and Xanax—anti-anxiety drugs sometimes prescribed as sleeping aids. The toxicology report could take up to eight weeks to complete.
Houston, 48, had a well-publicised battle with cocaine and alcohol that blighted the latter part of her career. A comeback in 2009 ended abruptly after a series of live performances fell flat with critics.
The world's most awarded female artist, Whitney Houston sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide. She will be sorely missed by her fans. In the words of at least one mourner: 'Whitney, we will always love you.'
