Vintage Beer Re- Discovery
Tuesday 31st January 2012 | Osh
At the time when the world believes that everything had been already discovered, there are still numbers of secrets hidden in… breweries. Workmen renovating cellars in a brewery in Bury St Edmunds found 2,000 bottles of 75 year old ale that’s never been tasted.
The ale was made to celebrate Edward VIII’s first year as a king but never went on sale. After he abdicated after 325 days to marry an American divorcee, Wallis Simpson, the special royal beer was locked away and has been hidden for 75 years. According to the brewer John Bexon, it is a fantastic beer with a rich fruity flavour.
John Bexon claims that there is a network of cellars and more vintage beers could be found any day soon.
