"The Beyonce Fly"

The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly “The Beyonce Fly” was called named such by Brian Lessard, an Australian researcher. The fly was names this because of its gold behind and it was also to demonstrate that taxonomy (the identifying and naming of species) had a fun side. However this is not the first animal to be names after famous people. There is a frog called Hyla Stingi and that’s names after the singer Sting and a spider called Pachynatha Zappa and that’s named after Frank Zappa.
