Free beer lures criminals

Police officers use new tactics to catch law-breakers.
Undercover officers working for Derbyshire police have been using a free beer hoax operation to catch criminals. Derbyshire police sent letters to dozens of people who had avoided arrest asking them to ring a marketing company to collect a free crate of beer. Well, whether you’re a full-blown criminal or the most law abiding citizen that ever lived, who’s going to turn down free beer! 19 suspects fell for the hoax and called the number on the letter, which then put them through to police officers based at Chesterfield Police Station. After freely giving addresses and telling the police when to drop round, the wanted men found themselves handcuffed and under arrest. Compared to free beer, that one’s gotta hurt. Looks like some things can be too good to be true.
