Guestlist Recommends: Reggae... Protoje

The ‘Seven Year Itch’ artiste is one of Jamaica’s newest reggae sensations making his name known worldwide.
Oje Ollivierre, popularly known as Protoje, is a musical genius in his field that he classifies as Dub Style Reggae. Having been in the music industry for eight years, he’s now reaping the fruits of his labour after significant success following the single ‘Arguments’. For a new artist to break into the reggae/dancehall scene in Jamaica is equally as hard as it is for a R&B singer to break into the music industry in the U.S. However, Protoje stuck to what he loved and though it’s been a long journey he’s intent on getting his music noticed on an international level.
Protoje manages to fuse a vintage reggae sound whilst keeping it contemporary, and the incorporation of live instrumentals is what reggae is all about. He has collaborated with Ky-Mani Marley on his single ‘Rasta Love’, which too is a personal favourite. Find out more at www.protoje.com
