This is a hip hop legend’s journey we have been watching for many years, right from when the story begins in December 18th, 1970 when Earl Simmons later to be know as DMX was born. A young Earl Simmons had a troubled abusive childhood, which turned him to the streets. Getting involved in crime was not the future he wanted and so he started DJ’ing and beat-boxing. Then later he began rapping and took the stage name DMX from the DMX drum machine. He made a name for himself free-styling in the hip hop underground scene and was recognised for his talent in The Source magazine who praised him in their Unsigned Hype column in 1991. He went on to appear on underground mixtapes and had a guest spot on LL Cool J’s ‘4 3 2 1’. In 1998 he released his Def Jam debut single ‘Get At Me Dog’ and then ‘It’s Dark and Hot in Hell’ that gave him number one chart success. In his albums he was blunt, diverse and spoke of violence in the most acute ways. The world awaits as he prepares to surprise us with his next project which is sure to continue to influencing fans and hip-hop lovers alike.
