K Koke, or Kevin Georgiou, has been active in the rap world since 2005. He released his first mixtape, Pure Koke, Vol. 1, in 2010 and his distinctive blend of north-London toughness and melodic backing tracks won him widespread acclaim. It is still available to download for free from Mixtape Madness, and was the springboard for his activities over the following year. His songs have received millions of hits on You Tube, including a successful live session on Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth feature. He released his second mixtape, Pure Koke, Volume 2, in March and soon found himself attracting attention from across the pond. Before long, he had been signed up by none other than American rap giant Jay-Z. Sadly, however, shortly after signing an agreement with Sony Music Roc Nation, Kevin Georgiou was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He maintains his innocence and insists that his deal with Roc Nation is still secure, but alas, his trial date on 15th June was postponed and he remains in police custody.
