Dance is one man's most primordial modes of movement and a popular sporting activity for all. Thanks to the #getfit trend on Instagram, which has been promoted by countless high-profile artists and models, the marriage of music and fashion is stronger than ever. The recent rumours that Rihanna is going to design a whole collection for sports brand Puma next year, is yet another example of this.
Rihanna is a fashion pioneer. She made the 'badgirl look' her trademark, balancing on the edge of great taste and vulgarity. She was the first to be seen wearing Alexander Wang for H&M, which hit the store on November 6th. Nevertheless, despite being on top of her game, Rihanna has never fully committed to one brand. She casually flirted with the Armani denim and underwear collection in 2011. Then in 2013, she went on to do four collections for River Island. This time she is attempting something more serious: the moment the papers are signed, the fashion icon could be seen wearing exclusively Puma head-to-toe, according to the NY Daily News.

This autumn can easily be labelled as the season of “Sports Chic”. Rita Ora's collaboration with Adidas Originals, unveiled in September, is a reflection of the 'Radioactive' singer's personal approach to style. It isn't a hard task to imagine Rita pairing the dark blue trainers covered with huge red flowers and the neon striped cap worn backwards.
In October, the high street brand Topshop announced the launch of the activewear label with the queen Bey herself. "We have been looking at this category as fashion-inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers' heartland," says Philip Green – owner of Arcadia, which operates Topshop. "Creating a partnership with Beyoncé, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category”.

Beyonce and Rihanna have been sharing the music Olympus for a long time. The goddesses of Instagram and Jay Z's favourite singers, could now be linked by another member of Beyonce's family. Solange Knowles, the sister of “Drunk in Love” Beyonce, is an Art Director and Creative Consultant at Puma. She launched her latest trainer collection for the brand titled 'Wild Wonder in November' the same week the rumours of Rihanna's collaboration first appeared in the press.
Riri will most likely stick to shoes too, but will still have fun with tops and trousers. The question is, will the singer have to give up Adidas, a brand with which she has had an obsession for years?
We will keep you updated on all the latest Rihanna news, and of Puma's new projects.
